如何理解”never say never”?

Never say never，字面意思是：绝不说”绝不”、永不说不。可是它实际表达的含义是什么呢？我们一起来看看。

当某人说”绝不”（never）的时候，表明他下定决心不做某事，或断定某件事情毫无发生的可能。但世事无绝对，很多时候由于个人想法、或外部情势的转变，看似不可能的事情最终却意外地发生了。因此，Never say never，其含义是：别轻易说”绝不”，即：不要把话说得太绝对。

英文里类似的说法还有：Nothing is impossible, anything can happen。有趣的是，这个意在告诫人们不要说”never”的短语，自己却偏偏用到了never这个字眼。参考英文例句：Pat said he’ll never call his ex again, but I told him, “Never say never.”（Pat说他绝不会给前任打电话了，但我告诉他：话不要说得太绝对。）

值得指出的是，never say never也有一层鼓励的含义，即：别轻易认输，不要认为自己不行。

在Justin Bieber与Jaden Smith合唱的《Never Say Never》中，就满满的全是励志气息，参见歌词：”When your hearts under attack, Gonna give everything I have. It’s my destiny. I will never say never! I will fight till forever!”。

NBA巨星迈克.乔丹也曾用到过这个表达：”Never say never because limits, like fears, are often just an illusion.”（别轻言放弃，因为限制就像恐惧，往往只是假象。）
