On the left side, on the left-hand side，乍一看似乎都是表示左边的意思，那二者有区别吗？还是可以互换（interchangeable）呢？
On the left side，可以理解为：在左边。而on the left-hand side，则可理解为：在左手边。二者的意思的确非常接近。但又一些细微区别：on the left side表达的”左边的方位、方向”，范围较大、较模糊。而left-hand side，则指的靠近说话人的”左手边”，其范围较近、较窄、更具体。此外，在谈论数学等式（equation）的左边、或右边时，人们习惯用：the left-hand side，或者the right-hand side。而On the right side, on the right-hand side，与此同理。
